It’s time to hit the road on FPL’s EV Expressway! Whether you’re planning to travel through Florida for Labor Day, Thanksgiving, the holidays or a weekend getaway, you can now make it a super-charged road trip with your electric vehicle (EV).

Florida Power & Light Company’s (FPL) must-have road trip tool for EV drivers is designed to map out statewide road trips, including where to charge up using the FPL EVolution public charging network, so you can travel with confidence.

The interactive website allows you to plan trips along FPL’s EV Expressway, selecting from pre-planned itineraries or creating your own customized adventure. FPL EVolution is poised to be one of the largest EV public fast charging networks in the state, installing more than 1,000 charging ports at more than 200 locations along major highways and at popular destinations, with more to come.

Along the way, check out one of the 70+ FPL SolarNow locations to see innovative solar trees and canopies that have been “planted” across the state at local zoos, museums and parks, as part of an effort to spread awareness about the benefits of solar energy. FPL is committed to protecting the environment and preserving it for future generations to come. St. Augustine to Sunny Isles

Tour Florida’s oldest city before hitting the FPL EV Expressway. Take off at Kennedy Space Center and end your adventure with your toes in the sand at Sunny Isles Beach.

Day One

• Visit the historic Augustine Distillery, a former FPL ice plant and home to an FPL SolarNow canopy
• Hit the road toward Blue Spring State Park and go for a swim in its clear, blue waters
• Check-in to the Westin in Lake Mary* and charge while you sleep

Day Two

• Start the day with some space exploration at the FPL Discovery Solar Energy Center at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex where you can also see FPLSolarNow trees soaking up the sun
• Take a lunch break and recharge at the Drum Florida Turnpike Service Plaza,* where you can charge your EV at the FPL EVolution charging station on your way south
• End your day at Heritage Park in Sunny Isles Beach*, where you can recharge as you visit the Memorial Wall and Fountains

Boynton Beach to Melbourne

Calling all beach lovers! Enjoy an oceanside morning stroll at Oceanfront Park in Boynton Beach before taking the FPL EV Expressway north to breezy Melbourne Beach. Then, visit with the wildlife at the Brevard Zoo and end your trip with a spectacular sunset.

Day One

• Spend the morning on Boynton Beach Oceanfront Park* and watch the waves roll in while relaxing in the shade under an FPL SolarNow canopy
• Stop at the Florida Turnpike West Palm Beach Service Station* for lunch and a fast charge
• Drive to the Hilton Melbourne Beach Oceanfront and enjoy your afternoon on the beach

Day Two

• Grab breakfast at the West Melbourne Dunkin* for a fast charge
• Spend the day at the Brevard Zoo,* and check out the Lands of Change: Australia and Beyond exhibit to see the kangaroos catching shade under the FPL SolarNow solar trees

Naples to Sarasota

Embrace flora and fauna at the Naples Zoo before exploring Venice’s historic downtown. Then relax in the clear turquoise waters and soft white sands at City of Holmes Beach before finally getting a close encounter with a shark at Sarasota’s Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium.

Day One

• Start the day at Naples Zoo at Caribbean Gardens, where you’ll park under an FPL SolarNow canopy, and depart after lunch
• Explore Venice’s historic downtown and recharge in Centennial Park*
• Check in to Legacy Hotel at IMG Academy* and charge while you rest

Day Two

• Soak up the sun and enjoy breakfast at the City of Holmes Beach*
• Explore MOTE Marine Laboratory & Aquarium* in Sarasota while you recharge

The Future is Electric

FPL remains committed to a more sustainable future through the electrification of transportation in Florida – a state that is currently ranked second in the nation for electric vehicle ownership.

With the FPL EVolution fast charging network, you can power up approximately every 25 miles along major highways such as Florida’s Turnpike, I-95 and east-west corridors. There are nearly 20 FPL fast charging stations located in convenient, safe spots near highway exits or along major thoroughfares, and close to amenities. These much higher speed charging stations allow vehicles to power up in about 20 to 30 minutes.

The best part? FPL EVolution chargers are compatible with most types of EVs, including Teslas with an adaptor. Level 2 chargers can be found at popular destinations around town such as museums and zoos.
