Did you know FPL’s SolarNow projects are located at some of the best attractions across the state? From the northeast to the southwest coast, you’ll be within driving distance to family-friendly destinations that can help you and your travel companions learn about the benefits of solar energy.

So, what are our top recommendations? We’ve put together a list that we think is just the right amount of fun for you and your family. If you’re already a SolarNow program participant you’re in luck because participants have access to exclusive offers and discounts at many of these destinations. South Florida

From Zoo Miami and the entertaining Frost Science Museum to the Palm Beach Gardens Aquatic Complex, Young at Art Museum and everything in between, South Florida has plenty of fun, cost-conscious and eco-friendly activities for all ages.

Guests visiting these attractions can explore a new type of exhibit—solar canopies and our unique solar trees. Solar trees and canopies catch the sun’s rays to generate emissions-free energy that is sent directly to the power grid. This is a process that benefits everyone and, in turn, sparks an interest in how solar energy projects work.

Feeling adventurous? Make it an action-packed day and visit SolarNow project locations throughout South Florida by taking the Brightline, an express intercity higher-speed rail system that is now running between Miami and West Palm Beach.

Florida’s Gulf Coast

If you’re in the southwest Florida region – Naples, Fort Myers and even Sarasota – make sure you stop by the Naples Zoo. This attraction now features a 200-kilowatt solar canopy, generating clean power while showcasing the benefits of renewable energy.

With its innovative design comprised of 600 solar panels, this solar canopy is the largest to-date!

Or perhaps you’d like to stop by the first-ever town in Florida to be fully powered by solar energy? If you’re in the Punta Gorda area, visit the nearby Babcock Ranch, which is powered from the ground up by solar energy. FPL SolarNow trees are a key feature throughout the community, just like our other locations.

Central Florida 

In town visiting Walt Disney World in Orlando? Or are you leaving on a cruise from the Space Coast? Take some time to learn about our solar trees at Port Canaveral’s best attractions, the Exploration Tower, a unique building with seven floors of interactive exhibits and observation decks, as well as Jetty Park, an outdoor public park on site.

Our commitment to renewable energy extends far beyond just solar trees in the region. Today, FPL is the largest generator of solar energy in Florida with 14 major solar power plants and numerous other solar installations.
