Stay Cool Through the End of Summer with FPL SolarNow

Looking to enjoy the final weeks of summer? With temperatures still high, there are plenty of ways to stay cool while enjoying the outdoors and learning something new. Across the Sunshine State, FPL SolarNow has transformed attractions like water parks, splash pads, pools, and slides into living classrooms.

In fact, there are more than 70 FPL SolarNow partner locations across the state where families can learn about the importance of clean energy and its impact on our communities. In these last summer days, families can visit one of their local parks where solar trees and canopies are on display to learn about the benefits and impact of low-cost, reliable solar energy.

 

Make a Splash
By incorporating solar trees into area parks, FPL SolarNow is not only highlighting the benefits of solar energy, but also featuring valuable amenities that everyone in the community can enjoy at no cost.

For example, in Palm Beach County you can drop by the Barracuda Bay Aquatic Center to explore water slides, fountains and much more. Solar trees are just outside the water to offer shade as they capture the sun’s rays and convert them into energy.

 

Further south in Miami, Charles Hadley Park & Aquatic Complex serves as an excellent resource for those looking to escape the heat, as it boasts an Olympic-sized pool with six diving boards and a wading pool for children. It also features two solar trees near the playground so you can enjoy an outdoor picnic under while enjoying these unique and innovative structures.

 

While in Southwest Florida, Laishley Park offers many interesting water features, including a splash pad, fishing pier and an interactive fountain. Relax and enjoy the view of the Peace River from a solar canopy that uses cost-efficient technology to provide clean energy for the community.

In Central Florida, Brevard Zoo includes an area just for splashing in the water in its Indian River Play Lagoon. With a space that includes a “dump tank”, mangrove forest and a bubbling manatee sculpture, it’s an optimal spot for children of all ages to stay cool. While exploring the zoo, feel free to stop by the zoo’s three solar trees that show a fun way to learn about alternative energy sources. Don’t wait too long to go, though, the zoo is giving free admission for kids the entire month of September!

 

Soak Up the Last Bit of Summer
Some of FPL SolarNow’s partner locations also offer “cool” events and offers to help you and your loved ones enjoy the end of the season.

For example, Naples Zoo is offering free entry for Collier County residents on September 7, the first Saturday of the month. This gives you the opportunity to experience the zoo’s Splash Zone, an interactive experience where great apes have the chance to spray guests, causing delight for everyone. Park under one of the five solar canopies which will help keep your car cool in the shade, while it uses that summer sun to create energy, powering homes, businesses, and the zoo!

 

The City of Palm Beach Gardens is also featuring food, music, shopping and more each Sunday at The Gardens GreenMarket. From 8 a.m. – 1 p.m., you can enjoy fresh produce, treats and handmade crafts before it gets hot. Once it does, walk over to the City of Palm Beach Gardens Aquatic Complex, where kids can explore a playground featuring water slides, fountains, and a splash pad, while you lounge under the solar trees.
